SUPER BOWL WEEKEND IN MINNEAPOLIS

As a part of my stay in the US and in Minnesota, I got to experience the biggest sport event up close. I didn't go to the actual game, since you have to pay about 1000-5000$ for the cheapest ticket (which my Au Pair salary will never be able to cover). BUT, I did get to see the 4 airplanes fly over the Super Bowl stadium... It might have only lasted about 30 seconds, buuut it was still pretty awesome to see those airplanes that was sent live on air for millions of people.

Superbowl is as I said the biggest sports event in the US, but in my home country a lot of people, especially my friends, stay up all night to watch the big sports drama, which I thought was quite funny, since I've been following it from back home too, and this year I'm standing right beside the big stadium probably 5 miles away from the big show.

This year it was the Eagles VS. The Patriots. It was an amazing game, but the winner ended up being the "sport judges" favorite; the Eagles! The Vikings, which are Minnesotas football team, made it to the semifinal but lost their game, with an embarrassing score. They were so close to making it to the Super Bowl, but sadly beaten badly in just before the finish line.

I did see a lot while the superbowl weekend was going on. I went to downtown Minneapolis where there was a lot of activities to do, tv-channel journalist all over the place and a lot of advertising stuff which gave us perks, when we walked around in the cold: e.g. a fireplace company gave out small pocket warmers and there were a lot of tastings, games and activities to do. It was all amazing, but there was so many people and the degrees were waay below 0°. The good thing about Minneapolis is, that it's stuffed with indoor bridges called skyways, which connects the big skyscrapers with each other, and at the time of the year, where every day is below 0° degrees you couldn't be more thankful for that invention.

I got to spend my superbowl weekend with two of my favorite people here in Minnesota, Emilie and Joe. We had so much fun, and it's sad to think about, that the Superbowl is over now, and that the exitment had to come to an end.

Best,

Silke
