My first Thanksgiving here in the USA was amazing! And I can't wait to share it here.
So, what I've been told here in the US by many different families, Thanksgiving is an American holiday where families and friends get together, eat a big meal with the typical big turkey and just celebrate their families and giving thanks for having them in their life... But, it's actually originally a holiday were the pilgrims back in the day had a big meal with native Americans, because they helped the Pilgrims settle in, and learned them how to farm, and simply just live in a new environment in their New found land. Tragedy this friendship started like it ended, with violent and disrespect towards the Native Americans. But they kept celebrating Thanksgiving and it's now, as I said, all about being thankful for what you have in life.
Back to MY first Thanksgiving!!! I celebrated my Thanksgiving in Chicago at my host dad's sister's family. They are the cutest family I've ever met, and the sister is one of the funniest persons I've ever met. She made the stay so much more special with her amazing humor!
John's (my host dad's) sisters husband made out Thanksgiving dinner, and he is an absolutely amazing cook. The turkey he made was so juicy and everything else was just absolutely delicious! I must say that this thanksgiving lived up to exactly what I imagined. After Thanksgiving was over, me and the family went to downtown Chicago to live the tourist life, and lucky (a bit unlucky) for us, we came in the middle of Black Friday, so the streets were filled up with people and so was the stores, but we still got to see a lot of Chicago and the big buildings. The next day we went around the city and saw a couple of the different kinds of tourist attractions, e.g. the big bean and a big Christmas market in the middle of the city.
